Kim is a proud Washington, D.C. native with nearly a decade of classroom experience. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Hampton University and went on to receive a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Kim began her teaching career as a Teach For America Corps member, teaching 6th grade English Language Arts in North Carolina for two years. She later returned to Washington, D.C., where she continued teaching at the middle school level and expanded into high school instruction. Over the course of her career, she has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts, 10th grade English, AP Seminar, and Creative Writing.

In addition to being a skilled educator, Kim serves as an AP Reader. For nearly ten years, she has consistently led her departments in student achievement data, reflecting her commitment to measurable growth. She is passionate about challenging students to exceed their potential and is dedicated to helping them become confident, capable readers and writers.
