Kathy McIntosh

President and Founder

Kathy McIntosh is a native Washingtonian with nearly two decades of experience as a classroom educator in Montgomery County Public Schools and as a private tutor. Driven by a passion for personalized learning, she founded Capital Learners Educational Services in 2015 to meet the growing demand for individualized academic support.

Since then, Kathy has built an elite network of private tutors and continues to personally oversee the hiring and training of each new team member. She holds a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalized instruction to every student.

With an energetic and nurturing personality, Kathy thrives in her daily work with children. She takes great pride in helping students build both academic skills and self-confidence, creating a supportive learning environment tailored to each individual.

Kathy specializes in working with middle and high school students, focusing on preparation for standardized tests such as the SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, SAT, and ACT. Her approach goes beyond test prep—she integrates executive functioning skills into each session, teaching effective study habits, time management, and organizational strategies that promote long-term academic success.

Outside of work, Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and three boys, doing Pilates, and playing mahjong with friends.
