Deepa is an educator, scholar, and artist, born and raised in the Washington, DC area, where she attended local public schools. She began her career as a chemistry teacher and led after-school STEM programs across the United States. Her work in education has also taken her to South and East Asia, as well as Eastern and Western Africa. In 2015–2016, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to India.Deepa holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Maryland, College Park.
